Why the Change to Off-Road? |
| |

JONESBORO – Due to the increased number of concerns received regarding the change of the Fergus Snoddy Half-Marathon to an off-road race, the Jonesboro Parks and Recreation Department would like to take this opportunity to explain the reasoning behind this decision.
Due to the high cost of hosting such a large event the Fergus Snoddy Half-Marathon was in danger of being eliminated this year. This race requires a great amount of volunteers and staff to provide support for and ensure the safety of the participants. Although we are thankful to those who have volunteered their time for the past two years, it has not been nearly enough needed to ensure a smooth event.
By changing the Fergus Snoddy Half-Marathon to a trail run, we have reduced the number of volunteers and staff required to host the event and the Jonesboro Parks and Recreation Department can still offer participants and the RRAC Run/Walk Series a quality and challenging event.
If there are any questions regarding the Fergus Snoddy Trail Half-Marathon & 4-miler, contact Jeff Owens at (870) 933-4604 or e-mail jowens@jonesboro.org. |
